นางจันทวรรณ สุจริตกุล ผู้ช่วยผู้ว่าการ สายสื่อสารและความสัมพันธ์องค์กร ธนาคารแห่งประเทศไทย (ธปท.) เปิดเผยว่า ตามที่มีข่าวว่า ประเทศไทยและไต้หวันอาจจะถูกกระทรวงการคลังสหรัฐฯ จับตาว่าเป็นประเทศที่มีการแทรกแซงค่าเงิน เพื่อสร้างความได้เปรียบทางการค้ากับสหรัฐฯ นั้น

ขอเรียนว่า ธปท.ได้หารือกับกระทรวงการคลังสหรัฐฯ มาอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองเกี่ยวกับภาวะเงินทุนเคลื่อนย้ายในตลาดการเงินโลก พัฒนาการของการเกินดุลบัญชีเดินสะพัดของประเทศไทย และความจำเป็นของ ธปท.ที่ต้องเข้าดูแลเพื่อรักษาเสถียรภาพค่าเงินในบางช่วงจังหวะเวลาที่มีเงินทุนไหลเข้าอย่างเฉียบพลันจากการปรับมุมมองของนักลงทุนเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์ในตลาดการเงินโลกและในประเทศอุตสาหกรรมหลัก
ธปท. ได้ย้ำเสมอว่า ธุรกรรมของ ธปท. ในตลาดเงินตราต่างประเทศ มิได้มุ่งหวังที่จะบิดเบือนค่าเงินเพื่อสร้างความได้เปรียบทางการค้ากับคู่ค้าของไทย เห็นได้จากการเคลื่อนไหวของค่าเงินบาทในช่วงที่ผ่านมาเป็นไปได้ทั้ง 2 ทิศทาง ทั้งอ่อนค่าและแข็งค่า ไม่ได้ไปในทิศทางใดทิศทางหนึ่ง และการทำธุรกรรมในตลาดเงินตราต่างประเทศของ ธปท. เป็นไปทั้ง 2 ทางเช่นกัน คือ มีทั้งการซื้อและการขายเงินตราต่างประเทศ ตามปริมาณเงินทุนเคลื่อนย้ายที่เข้าออกอย่างผันผวนและรวดเร็ว

- The Bank of Thailand clarifies speculation on upcoming US Treasury FX Report
Mrs. Chantavarn Sucharitakul, Assistant Governor, Communications and Corporate Relations Group, Bank of Thailand (BOT) commented on speculation that Thailand and the Republic of China (Taiwan) may feature in the United States (US) Department of the Treasury Foreign Exchange report as countries that manipulate their currency to gain unfair trade advantage over the US.
The BOT wishes to clarify that the BOT has worked closely with the US Department of the Treasury to promote better understanding of the BOT exchange rate management. Bilateral discussions have focused on the global developments of financial flows, Thailand’s declining current account surplus, and efforts to promote a more balanced capital flows in support of sustainable economic growth. The BOT does not manage the currency for the purpose of gaining unfair competitive advantage over its trading partner. Moreover, intervention has been two way depending on the intensity of the capital flows.
